Hello there! We are nine days out until the big day! I don't know where the time has gone! The Reception

As its so far away from home we made the decision to start the reception earlier, this is so you our lovely guests can take in our beautiful building! Our only critique about coming early is to have at least a sandwich beforehand or a sneaky Maccys drive thru as food won't be served till later on. This is a proper Simon and Hannah house party so there'll be a free bar, with the most random assortment of alcohol imaginable. Please feel free to bring your own if you have a favoured tipple or specific drinks for kids! There will be labels provided to assert ownership. We will hopefully have a large amount of mixes - enough for any concoction. Dancing will be held in the main hall until midnight whereupon any die-hards can go downstairs to 'Pink Lloyds' and continue to party until two am.

About Voewood

Voewood was built between 1903-1905 and stands as an enduring testimony to the Arts &amp; Crafts movement. William Morris, the founder and ‘grandfather’ of the Arts &amp; Crafts movement in the UK, famously said: ‘Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.’ With owner Simon Finch’s extraordinary vision, Voewood’s interiors have been meticulously styled with beautiful pieces from high-culture to counter-culture, placed to impress, enchant and amuse. FROM INSTITUTIONAL TO INSPIRATIONALWith partitioned rooms, unsympathetic additions and all the trappings of 100 years as a retirement home and hospital, the house needed to be completely stripped back to reveal its true identity. Resisting the temptation to overly plan or programme, Simon worked with a range of artists to develop the interiors organically and in response to the house. The process was thoughtful and unrushed, working with the unique nuances of the building to create spaces that delight, amuse and surprise.

Things to be wary about in this old house

SmokingVoewood is a non-smoking, non-vaping housewith a strict no smoking policy within the building.Guests are allowed to smoke outside using theashtrays provided. ParkingAll cars must be parked in the allocated bays alongthe driveway. The circular driveway is forunloading only. PlumbingThe plumbing is as old as thehouse. Anything put down the loo other than loopaper creates horrible problems for the wastesystem. SafetyPlease be careful both in the house andsurrounding gardens. Care must be taken aroundthe ponds. The water is deep and potentiallydangerous. Young children must be supervised atall times. The gardens are Grade II* listed andshould be treated accordingly. Respect must be given to all the artefacts, booksand furniture belonging to Voewood. Like thehouse they are unique and irreplaceable.The terrace doors leading out on to the terracearea are old, fragile and need careful handling. The forest at the back of the property backs onto a main road, so please take care when wondering for a wee late at night!

Towels are provided but I would recommend bringing your own. Feel free to bring any extra snacks or drinks! Dinner on Tuesday is from 1830 - 1930 but there will no doubt be leftovers so don't worry! If you need any help getting to the venue let us know so we can wrangle something.
